Telelogic Tau Documentation

The complete user documentation for the Telelogic Tau products is available on-line as well as in printed format.

On-Line Documentation

The on-line documentation consists of HTML files, which are included in the Telelogic Tau CD-ROM distribution.

The HTML files can be accessed from the Telelogic Tau software as a result of a context-sensitive help request. This requires that an on-line help viewer has been installed and set up properly.

Printed Documentation

The printed documentation consists of a collection of wire-bound books and the User's Manual. The printed version of the User's Manual is only delivered if you have ordered it separately.

PostScript files, with the same layout and contents as the printed documentation, are included on the installation CD. Use them for printing selected parts of the documentation.

Contents of the Included Volumes

The following volumes are included in the Telelogic Tau documentation:

Typographic Conventions

This section describes the typographic conventions used in all volumes of the Telelogic Tau user documentation.

Menu Commands and UI Objects

Telelogic Tau user interface objects, such as labels, menu names, menu items and button texts, are shown in italics:

Menu commands can also be expressed in a single form by separating the menu, submenu and menu item by a `>' character:

File Names, Variables, etc.

Names of files and directories, variables, source code literals, file keywords, etc. are usually shown in a typewriter font :

Textual Input/Output, Listings, etc.

Listings of source code, file contents and textual output from the computer is shown in a typewriter font:

When you are asked to type in characters from the keyboard during an interactive session, a bold typewriter font is used:

Placeholders

Information within angle brackets "< >" denotes symbolic names (placeholders) which should be replaced by actual names:

Keys

Special keys or key combinations are shown in a typewriter font within angle brackets. Keys to be pressed together are separated by `+':

Platform Differences

The Telelogic Tau documentation is common to both UNIX and Windows. The differences that exist between the platforms are usually indicated in the text by a platform indicator (a bold, sans-serif font) which always contains the word UNIX or Windows. Examples:

If a complete section of text is platform specific, the platform is indicated in the section heading:

Performing the Operation (on UNIX)
Performing the Operation (in Windows)

Screenshots are shown in either a UNIX or Windows version. Even if the appearance and layout may differ slightly between the platforms or screen setups, the functionality is identical.

1. ORCA is part of the Telelogic product suite and stands for Object oriented Requirement Capture and Analysis.
