Fundamental Concepts of Specware

In this section we illustrate the fundamental ideas of Specware\ without going into full details, which are treated in the Specware Language Manual. We shall take our examples from plane geometry. The purpose of these examples is not to impress the reader but rather to take advantage of shared geometric intuitions--we may assume that everyone has an idea of what a rectangle is, but not of what, say, an operating-system kernel is.

We first introduce a basic notion in Specware, the specification.
